How does this box differ from the Tween box?
It offers a graphic/partially graphic novel, and high adventure upper elementary chapter book to gradually increase your sprouting reader's book interest. This box is also geared toward ages 8-12.
Graphic novels are a great way to gradually transition to chapter books and have been known to motivate hesitant readers to pick up a book. Studies have also shown that graphic texts promote better recall and comprehension; they also are great for neuro-diverse readers.
This box also helps tween readers further explore different various genres and fall in love with diverse characters. We engage each reader and their families with “Discussion over Dinner” questions to integrate themes discussed in featured books into conversations beyond the books themselves.
Each box includes: 1 graphic novel, 1 chapter book (including 1 "mystery genre" book), “Discussion over Dinner” questions for each book, a journal with creative writing prompts, a positive affirmation “I Am” statement card, 2 high quality gifts from minority owned businesses, and some extra bookish surprises. Each reader gets an extra gift during their birthday season.
